STREAMERS & PULLING FLIES

The flooding of new ground and vegetation seems to single to frogs that its time to lay their eggs. Ten to 15 days later assuming the water hasn't dropped killing the eggs you can expect a hatch of tadpoles. These tadpoles are a favourite food of trout and you will often find both browns and rainbows systematically searching them out in the shallows. You don't have to have a specific tadpole fly to target tadpole feeding fish but if you want one this is a beauty. Fish the tadpole fly either on the drop or the lift in shallow water around detritus matter. This action mimics the action of a tadpole coming to the surface to breath and then returning to its cover and is a prime time for trout to strike.
