MIDGE PUPA FLIES
EPOXY MIDGE -
CHIRONOMID
When
Chironomids are
emerging
they emerge in large numbers and there are plenty of choices for the
fish.
Casting speed and accuracy are as essential as an appropriate fly. When
I asked the guys at Alpine to recommend their favourite
chironomid
pattern this is what they gave me.

Hook Size -
12 to 16
Silk - Black
floss
Body - Black
floss

the way
along the shank of the hook.
- Wind the silver wire forward forming six or
seven
uniform segments.
- Tie the wire off with the floss and trim the

B)
- Tie in matching feather slips much the same
way as
you would a wing casing but along each side of the fly.
- Build up a neat thorax about twice the
diameter of
the body.
- Pull the side slips forward and tie them off
just
behind the eye of the hook.
- Whip finish and trim the thread.
