EMERGER FLIES

FLYMPHS

(WET FLY)

This is more of a class of flies rather than just a fly.

Flymphs are wingless soft hackle flies that were designed to bridge the gap between nymphs and true emergers and consequently should be fished in the top couple of inches of water. They are particularly useful when trout are feeding just below the surface as evidenced by obvious swirls but no actual rise.

Single flies can be fished but because of their size two or three can be fished as a team or one or two can be presented above a nymph.

The best method is to cover swirls and then either fish the flymph static or on a very slow retrieve.
